What is HighStakes

HighStakes was created for those people who want to pick a team on a weekly basis. Just like the full season, the drivers are broken into categories. However, unlike the full season the driver categories change on a weekly basis. Categories are determined based on each driver's odds to win the race that week.

Segments

The HighStakes season is divided into 4 segments. Segment 1 consists of the first nine races of the year, Segment 2 the next 9 races, Segment 3 the next 8 races and finally Segment 4 the last 10 races (The Chase). Points reset back to 0 at the beginning of each segment.

Teams

Your weekly team will consist of 5 drivers + 1 qualifying driver (NOTE: You will NOT select a qualifier for Daytona). Categories will be posted late Tuesday night. You have until the scheduled start time of the race to submit your team. In order to receive points for your qualifier you must have that submitted prior to the scheduled start of qualifying. You may submit your team + qualifier all at once or separately.

What happens if I forget to submit my team

If you forget to submit your team then your team will consist of the lowest scoring driver from each category. This is as a safety net of sorts. Receiving 0 points in any given week would almost certainly give you no chance to win. So this safety net is in place to keep you in the running (in theory).

Cost

$20 per team, per Segment. If you are planning on entering all 4 segments then you can pay an additional $5 (1 time yearly fee) to be included in the overall standings (all 4 segments). The overall will be winner take all. $1 per team, per segment, is reserved to help cover web hosting fees.

Scoring

Your team will accumulate driver points (not car owner points) for all 5 drivers based on the official NASCAR results. Bonus points are awarded for qualifying if your qualifying driver starts in the Top 10. Bonus point breakdown for 1st-10th is 50, 40, 30, 25, 20, 16, 12, 8, 4, 2. Any point deductions/penalties NASCAR hands down post-race inspection will be deducted from your team score for the race in which the infraction occurred. Pre-race penalties are NOT applied to your team's score.

Payouts

Top 2 finishing teams in each segment
Highest scoring team each week ($5)
Overall winner which is the total score of all 4 segments

*Payouts may change depending on number of entries.

Sample Payout (10 teams)

1st Place: $102
2nd Place: $43
Weekly High Score ($5 per race, $45 total)

Overall Winner: $50 (If all 10 teams entered the overall)

Tiebreaker

Segment/Overall - 1) Most Poles 2)Most Wins. If still tied then money will be split between the tied teams.
Weekly - 1)Highest Qualifier 2)Highest finishing driver 3)Next highest finisher and so forth. If teams are identical then they will split the money.
